A self-defence techniques workshop was conducted for the entire female staff of Laxman Public School on 5 July 2025. The session was led by Ms Asha, a trained martial arts instructor from the Delhi Police, South District, who specialises in empowering individuals with practical skills for self-protection.
The workshop began with an introductory session focusing on the importance of awareness, alertness, and confidence in self-defence situations. Teachers were made aware of common threats and how to handle aggressive behaviour without panic.
Key Activities and Techniques Covered:
● Importance of body language and maintaining a safe distance
● Basic hand-release techniques
● Defence against wrist grabs and choke holds
● Use of everyday objects for protection
● Voice control and assertiveness training
● How to raise an alarm and ask for help
The session was highly interactive, with teachers participating in practical drills under expert supervision. Real-life scenarios were enacted to provide hands-on experience in responding to potential threats calmly and effectively. The workshop proved to be an enlightening and empowering experience. Participants expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to learn valuable self-defence skills. It not only boosted their confidence but also prepared them to safeguard themselves better during emergencies.
The self-defence workshop was a successful initiative that contributed significantly to the safety awareness and preparedness of the school staff. It was indeed a valuable learning experience.
