LaxMUN 2025: Forging Peace in a Fractured World

LaxMUN 2025 officially commenced on 31st July at Laxman Public School, marking the long-awaited return of the school’s flagship diplomatic conference in its full in-person format. Held over two days, 31st July and 1st August, the conference witnessed overwhelming participation from more than 150 delegates, reflecting the continued legacy and growing popularity of LaxMUN since its pioneering inception in 2007.

The opening ceremony began with a soulful rendition of the School Song by the school choir, setting a tone of unity and pride. This was followed by a heartfelt performance of Courage to Change, echoing the spirit of resilience and leadership. Swastika Mukherjee, Head of the International Press, formally opened the day, setting the stage for a conference rooted in dialogue, diplomacy and global vision. Speeches by Director Mr Sparsh Kedia and Principal Ms Seema Bharti Mishra highlighted the importance of youth-led diplomacy in addressing today’s global challenges.

The theme of the conference, Forging Peace in a Fractured World, was explored through meaningful debates in the UNGA, UNHRC and Stakeholders’ Meet committees. Delegates engaged in intense deliberations on pressing issues including the responsible use of autonomous weapons and drones in modern warfare, the promotion and protection of press freedom along with the safety of journalists and the freedom of press and media with special emphasis on the Broadcasting Bill.

The Secretary-General, Aditya Apoorva, officially declared the conference open with an inspiring address, after which the delegates moved to their respective committee sessions. Over the two days, LaxMUN 2025 proved to be a powerful revival of youth-driven dialogue and purposeful diplomacy.

The conference concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where every participant was presented with an eco-friendly hamper made from recycled paper, reaffirming the event’s commitment to sustainability. The Best Delegate Trophy was awarded to Arpita Juyal and Shreya Singh of Laxman Public School and Priyal Jain of Bal Bharti School. High Commendation was received by Jai Pawar, Azeem Mutaher Zerger, Rehmat Kaur and Mehak Singh of Laxman Public School, as well as Divyansh Mishra of Father Agnel School and Arjun Thareja of The Mother’s International School. Principal Ms. Seema Bharti Mishra congratulated all the winners and shared her reflections on the significance of such platforms in empowering the youth. The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Mr. Sparsh Kedia, Director of LaxMUN 2025.
