PARENTS’ ORIENTATION WORKSHOP

Laxman Public School was privileged to host a Parents’ Orientation Workshop under the MATE Programme – Mind Activation Through Education, an initiative collaboratively launched by CBSE and AIIMS to promote mental health awareness and emotional well-being among students, teachers and parents.
The session commenced with a warm welcome of the dignitaries and parents by the school counsellor, Ms. Dimple Vij. The morning began on a harmonious note with the School Song, presented beautifully by the school choir, setting the tone for a day of learning and reflection.
The Principal, Ms. Seema Bharti Mishra, addressed the gathering with an inspiring message on the school’s vision of holistic education. She emphasized the need for emotional balance, compassion and resilience as integral elements of the journeyof a child’s growth. Her passionate leadership and commitment to creating a nurturing environment for students and teachers alike resonated deeply with the audience.
The workshop was graced by eminent experts from AIIMS, whose insights brought depth and direction to the session:
- Prof. (Dr.) Nand Kumar, Professor of Psychiatry, AIIMS New Delhi and Founding President, Neuromodulation Society (India), shared valuable perspectives on mental health resilience and the importance of early emotional education.
- Prof. Brij Bakshi, Media & Communication Expert, discussed the role of mindful communication and storytelling in shaping young minds.
- Dr. Deepika Dahima, Scientist, Department of Psychiatry, AIIMS, spoke about integrating emotional awareness and mindfulness into parenting and teaching practices.
- Ms. Priyanka Tandon, Programme Strategist, Project MATE, elaborated on the framework, philosophy and implementation of the MATE initiative across schools.
As a gesture of gratitude and respect, the distinguished guests were felicitated with planters by the Principal- symbolizing growth, harmony and the nurturing of young minds.
The MATE team’s interactive presentation enlightened parents on how collective efforts of schools and families can foster emotionally strong, compassionate and self-aware children. The session was rich with practical insights, reflective discussions and strategies for promoting mental wellness at home and in school environments.
The programme concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Renuka Sharma, Coordinator (Grades VI–VIII), who expressed appreciation to the resource persons, Principal Ma’am, teachers and parents for making the session a meaningful success.
The workshop served as a powerful reminder that true education lies not just in academic excellence, but in nurturing empathy, resilience and emotional intelligence — ensuring that every child grows into a confident and compassionate individual.
