STRATEGIES FOR TEACHERS TO STRENGTHEN STUDENT SELF-ESTEEM

As part of the ongoing in-service training programme for faculty, Laxman Public School organised an enriching and thought-provoking workshop on “Unlocking Potential: Strategies for Teachers to Strengthen Student Self-Esteem” on 5th July 2025. The session was facilitated by Ms Vandana Tandon, a seasoned educator and resource person, courtesy of The Times of India.
The workshop focused on the crucial role that teachers play in shaping students’ self-perception, emotional well-beingand academic motivation. Ms Tandon highlighted how positive teacher-student interactions, empathetic communication and recognition of individual strengths can significantly influence a student’s self-esteem and overall development.
Through a combination of theoretical insights, practical strategiesand interactive activities, the session empowered educators to reflect on their own classroom practices. Key areas discussed included the power of constructive feedback, the need to create inclusive and non-judgmental learning environments and the importance of modelling self-confidence and a growth mindset in daily teaching.
Teachers actively participated in group discussions and reflective exercises, which enabled them to share their experiences and learn from one another. The workshop also underscored the long-term impact of teacher encouragement and the importance of nurturing every child’s potential with care and intentionality.
