LaxMUN 2018 new

LaxMUN 2018, a mock UN Conference, was held on 1st and 2nd November 2018 in Laxman Public School. 20 schools and a total of 200 delegates made the programme a great success by participating enthusiastically.

The programme commenced on 1st Nov with the welcome speech of the Head Boy, Jesto Peter, which was followed the song ‘Heal the World’ sung by the school choir. The Director and former Directors of LaxMUN society Aditya Apurva and C Karthika Sajeev paid tribute to the two great souls of the world lost this year – India’s lion hearted leader Mr Atal Bihari Vajpayee and UN’s eight benevolent Secretary General Mr Kofi Annan. This was followed by words of encouragement by the HoS Mr D N Tiwari to all the delegates present. Finally The Secretary General, Mohit Gupta introduced the executive board and declared open the conference.

The conference had five committees: General Assembly, Security Council, Stakeholders’ Meet, Human Rights Council and Council of Lemuria with the agendas of Funding of UNO, The Threat of Misuse of Military Arsenal by Pakistan, Secularism in Indian Constitution, Human Rights and Accommodation of Minorities. The committees were chaired by Sankap Suman, Arwind Sarawagi, Vanshika Mittal, Tavleen Kaur and C KArthika Sajeev respectively. By the end of the second day all the committees were able to pass their resolutions and more or less came to a consensus.

The prize distribution ceremony was held on 2nd November. The following students were given away the prizes in their respective committees:

The best delegation award for LaxMUN 2018 was bagged by DPS Rohini. The programme ended with a vote of thanks given by the Head Boy of the school.

2nd KBD Jr Hero Meet new

Laxman Public School hosted the 2nd KBD Jr Hero meet in the school premises on Dec 1, 2018. Eight junior teams from all over Delhi participated in the competition. Star Sports sponsored the meet. Star player Mr Kamal Kishore from Delhi Dabaang Team was present. He was felicitated by the HoS, Mr D N Tiwari. The junior team of LPS is being coached by Mr Kuljeet Singh and a student coach Rohit Kaushik of class XI.

GROUND WATER CONSERVATION AND MANAGEMENT new

Central Ground Water Board under the aegis of National Ground Water Training and Research Institute organised a training / mass awareness programme on water conservation and ground water management at Laxman Public School, Hauz Khas Enclave, New Delhi on 29th November 2018. The purpose of organising this programme was to spread awareness among the young stakeholders on saving water. It is an initiative taken by Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation.

A team of scientists led by Mr S K Juneja, Officer Incharge, State Unit Office, Delhi had come to talk to the students of class XI. Mr Tejdeep Singh and Mr O K Naik, Sr. Hydrologists told students about drying rivers, ponds and lakes. They also suggested simple ways to save water.

A poster making competition was held in the school. The best paintings were awarded. The cultural programme was highly appreciated by the guests. The theatre group presented a hilarious play on the topic ‘Save Water’. Lavish lunch was served to participants. The vote of thanks was given by HoS Mr D N Tiwari.
