Earth Day, held each year on April 22, marks the anniversary of the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970. It is celebrated as an attempt to save mother earth and to promote awareness about the need to save our planet from various man-made ailments like pollution, deforestation, global warming. With the need to empower the students with the knowledge to inspire action in defence of environmental protection, Earth Day 2017 was celebrated with great enthusiasm in the school on 21st April 2017.

The children of Preschool, Pre-Primary, classes I & II were explained the importance of the 3 R’s – Reuse, Recycle and Reduce. They made Earth Day badges and took a promise to “Save the Mother Earth”.

The students of class III put up an assembly on the topic “Endangered Animals – Especially Pandas”. They talked about different kinds of pandas, their food, their habitat and what we can do to save them. They also spread a message about planting more trees and not cutting them. The assembly ended with a song ‘Going for the Lion Hunt’.  The students of classes V & VI also presented a song on Earth Day. Various activities like slogan writing, collage making and painting competition were held for students of classes VII to X.
